Registration (Anmeldung) - How to make an appointment online

Step by step guide based on KVR Munich, Germany

Step 1: enter in Google following bluecard termin auslaenderbehoerde muenchen.

Actually, you do not need to enter the exact word-combination which I used. Mind the following keywords: Blue card - appointment - the city name (in our case Munich).

Step 2: find a government website, search for book appointment online (Termin vereinbaren / Terminvergabe).

Here make sure that you click on a government website and not on a private company. Let's follow the second result of my search: How do I make an appointment? (Wie vereinbare ich einen Termin?) from www.muenchen.de then City Hall, then Make an appointment. Notice that next to each German search result, there is a link "Translate this Page".

Keep in mind that there is a link "Translate this Page" next to each search result.

After you have clicked on Registration Form first the website will bring you to a kind of overview page and ask you for which occasion you need a registration form (s. Screenshot 3.1)

Step 3: on an overview page find your occasion. In our case it is Meldeangelegenheiten (Registration).

Click on Meldeangelegenheiten, then on Weiter.

Tip: instead of looking for English mirror, use the German page traanslated into English with the Chrome right click. I noticed that English mirrors sometimes are less developed and not always updated on time. An example of Chrome translation see on the screenshots 4 and 5).

Step 4: in our case we are a family so we are selecting An- oder Ummeldung - Familie. Digit "1" means "one family".

If we were not a family but a single person, then the first option (An- oder Ummeldung - Einzelperson) were correct.

Step 5: Find a local citizen's office (Bürgerbüro) of your choice.

Select a Bürgerbüro of persons. I choose "4" because I want to register the whole family - dad, mum and two kids (screenshot 5).

Step 6: Choose a free date on the online calendar.

However, it is quite possible that all dates are fully booked for next weeks.

What to do if all dates are fully booked?

First book any available date, even if this date is behind the validy period of your residence title.

I recommend to book any available date based on your Mitwirkungspflicht - so called "obligation to cooperate". It is not your fault that the Immigration Authority cannot offer free appointments at the moment. By booking any available appointment you have done your best and accepted the earliest date possible. As long as you weren't too late to schedule the application for a bluecard yourself.

Step 7

Now you have two options:

Option #1: You check online regularly (i.e. daily) in the hope of finding a free date and book it immediately.

The "good news" is that you have to go online very early in the morning: at 7 AM.

Option #2: Hire Migwork. We book an appoinment for you. You will be notified immediately after we have booked the appointment for you (and for your family).

Note: please remember to delete the first booked appointment after you have got a second appointment with more suitable date.

Step 8

Select the date and the desired time. Go to the personal data entry (screenshot 7.1).

Enter your personal data (screenshot 7.1).

Anrede - choose the "Herr" if you are male;
Geburtsdatum - your birthday;

Now tick the checkbox and click on Reservieung Abschließen (Complete reservation).

You will see the following annotation: "Ihr Termin wurde vorgemerkt

Ihr Termin wurde vorgemerkt. Um die Reservierung abzuschliessen, erhalten Sie sofort eine E-Mail mit einem Aktivierungslink. Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Reservierung nach ... "

Translation: Your appointment has been noted. To complete the reservation, you will immediately receive an email with an activation link. Please note that the reservation expires after 1 hour if you do not confirm the appointment with this link.

Step 9

Now check your inbox and find the email with the subject "Aktivierungslink für Ihren Termin". To make a binding reservation click on Termin bestätigen (Confirm appoinment). See the screenshot 9.

After you have confirmed the binding reservation of your appointment (step 8), you will get the final confirmation with the words "Ihr Termin wurde aktiviert". Besides you will find the necessary information. This information includes:

Service (Dienstleistung) - in this case: Registration of 1 family;
Location (Standort) - in this case: Bürgerbüro Ruppertstrasse;
Date (Datum) - in this case: 19.03.2020;
Time (Uhrzeit) - in this case: 11:00 AM;
Duration (Termindauer) - in this case: 20 minutes;
Waiting area (Wartezone) - in this case: Appointments "yellow" (Termin Gelb);
Waiting number (Wartenummer) - in this case: T139.

Now all you have to do is to print the final confirmation and make an entry into your agenda/calendar. And be on time of course :)
